This Desert Life

Home again, home again, jiggety jig.

Thanks to the time change, Abi-girl slept in until nine AM today. She's napping again now.

We just got back from the grocery store. And now I ought to be unpacking. Or doing dishes. Instead I started flipping through the photos of our (wonderful, marvelous, relaxing, lazy, gluttonous) vacation in Phoenix. Here are a few shots of how we spent our time:

Oma spent a lot of time hugging her granddaughter, which meant lots of free time for us. We even had a chance to go for an early dinner at El Encanto, an outdoor Mexican restaurant that we love. In fact, we ate Mexican food every night. We came home a bit overloaded... and indigestion-y... but loved it.

David got to hike and saw fun things like snakes and lizards and toads (oh my!), but I opted out due to a big splinter embedded in my foot. My mother snagged this photo while we were unaware. Here, David gamely offers to pull it out for me. Notice my face... Despite the expression, he did a good job.

Abigail played in a pool for the first time, and seemed to enjoy herself. Of course, Oma made sure the water was nice and warm. Here she is splashing and clapping. She tried a dip in the big girl pool too, even though it was cold.

And, of course, we spent some time in the hot tub and pool, too....

Aww.

Aside from that, we watched movies, read, ate junk food, stared at the desert, and slept in. And when we got bored, we got creative. Or rather, when David got bored he got creative:

And a good time was had by all.
