Okay moms - if any of you have been keeping up with the blog - I need some advice. Abigail sleeps through the night - anywhere from 9-12 hours. When she wakes in the morning, she is ALWAYS soaked through. Onesie, PJs, sheets, mattress liner.
We tried cloth diapers at first (she wears those during the day and doesn't leak), but she soaked through those. So then we bought Pampers Baby Dry 12 Hour overnight diapers. They worked for a while, but now they don't. We've got the right size - Abigail weighs 17 lbs and wears a size 3 diaper. But she's recently decided that sleeping on her tummy is more comfortable than her back. And because the diapers aren't as absorbent in front, and she's laying on the less-absorbent area all night, it eventually leaks out and makes a huge mess. We only have two mattress pads, and about four crib sheets, so I do laundry a lot. Help!
Taking suggestions...

You asked for thoughts from moms, so I hope it's OK for a dad to chime in. :-)
Kira often does the same thing, and yes, it's really annoying. And, I'm sure, has made our electricity bill increase considerably with the extra loads of laundry! Two things we've done to help:
1) We've found that the weight size listed on diapers doesn't correspond well to what best fits our kids. Typically, it seems that the diaper package is a bit, well, "optimistic" about what size kid will fit into the diaper. :-) Moving up to the next diaper size has often helped us. My theory is that it's not just weight, but height--I don't know how tall Abigail is, but our girls tend to be pretty tall, so I think they tend to leave the diaper sizes early. (Just as a point of reference--Kira is huge--23.6 pounds, as I weighed her today--and she's already in size 5 diapers!!)
2) We typically put Kira down around 7 or 7:30. Before we go to bed, we check her diaper, and if she feels wet, we change her. She's never woken up when we've done that, but I suppose other kids might be different.
Whether this works or not, I hope you find something that does!
hey there! sorry about your messy problem. i have a few suggestions from my kiddos, but since every baby is different, i can't guarantee they'll work.
1. i liked pampers when they were tiny babies, but by the time we got up to a size 3, i found that huggies (red box) worked better for the twins. huggies also makes an overnight diaper that you could try.
2. you could go up a size just for night time. more surface area = more pee absorbtion.
3. if all else fails, you could double-diaper her so that what escapes the first layer is (hopefully) caught by the 2nd.
good luck, chica!
Wyatt does the same thing and we put a cloth liner in with the overnight diapers.
we've been lucky enough so far that the extra liner in the cloth has been working. i was going to suggest what erin said - use a cloth liner in the disposable diaper.
another thing you could do is put a trash bag under the fitted sheet over the mattress pad. that way you don't have to wash the mattress pad every time.
I have a fried who just started making her own cloth diapers that she says are "bullet proof" since her little guy has the same problem. She also swears by wool covers. I can get you in touch if you're interested!
